Former Cloquet-Esko-Carlton hockey player, Clay Wilson, was recently signed to a 2-year contract with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League.

After leaving the Lumberjacks, Wilson went on to star at Michigan Tech University in Houghton, Michigan. Wilson was in the lineup for all of his four seasons for the Huskies and also served as team captain. In 2005-2006, Wilson played for the Grand Rapids Griffins in Grand Rapids, Michigan and he eventually was signed to an NHL contract by the Anaheim Ducks, where he played for their AHL affiliate the Portland Pirates.
