It was nothing short of amazing for the Fond du Lac Thunder men’s baseball team on Monday night when they rallied for 10 runs in the final inning to win their first game in school baseball history by a 14-13 score over Mesabi Range Community College at Braun Park in Cloquet.

Donnie Roberts picked up the first win by delivering two innings of relief. Despite giving up eight runs in the top of the seventh inning Roberts teammates rebounded and score 10 of their own in the bottom half of the inning to secure their first baseball win.

Travis Magzdas led the Thunder with a 3-for-7 effort at the plate as well as four RBI’s including the game winner. Roberts also helped his own cause with three hits and three runs scored, three RBI’s and a pair of doubles. Cody Anderson, who pitched the first five innings, belted out two hits and a pair or RBI’s and Bryce Karppinen scored three runs, had two RBI’s and drove in the tying run in the bottom of the seventh with a double.

The Thunder dropped the opener 13-3 with Joe Broneak pitching the complete game five-inning loss. The game had been suspended on Saturday after 2 1/2 innings due to inclement weather. The Thunder are now 1-11 on the Inaugural campaign.
