Jacks Tennis Wins Tight 4-3 Match Over Denfeld

After splitting singles matches with Denfeld in boys tennis on Monday night, the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks took two-of-three doubles matches to secure a 4-3 win over the Hunters.


Corey Bolen of Denfeld slipped by CEC’s Sean Kedrowski in a tight 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) match at #1 singles. At #2 singles it was Kyle Stupka slipping by CEC’s John Scheuer 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. However the Lumberjacks came back with Tanner Webster winning at #3 singles 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 over Brendan Johnson and at #4 singles when Christian Pritchett downed Mike Stukel 6-2, 6-2.


Ryan Willgohs and Rob Sobczak of CEC took their #1 doubles match by 6-7, 6-2, 6-3 over Troy Andrews and Tony Petrich. The Hunters then took a close win at #2 doubles when Bryan Mlodzyniec and Reese Johnson defeated CEC’s Luke Heine and Joey Gotchnik. The Lumberjacks finally secured the win when Nick Tomhave and Ben Tomhave won their #3 doubles match 7-5, 6-3 over Joey Erickson and Alex Beaulier.


The Jacks will be off until Monday when they travel to Duluth East.
