Kello Brown showed that he can run with the big dogs! Brown tossed in 29 points to lead a star studded Minnesota All-Stars team to a 135-75 victory over Wisconsin in the annual Border Battle held at Romano Gym at UMD on Tuesday night. The win was the first for the Minnesota All-Stars to go against three losses. On the girls side, it was Wisconsin posting a fairly easy 85-69 victory over Minnesota with Heather Bowe of Eau Claire Regis pumping in 29 points to lead her team.

Brown, who played for Fond du Lac Ojibwe High School this past year, will move on to play collegiately at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. Ironically, Brown scored his game-high 29 points against the coach who will be his coach in college, Damien Paulson.

Andrew Laughlin of Duluth Denfeld had 23 points for the Minnesota squad and Johnny Woodward of Duluth East added 19 points. Anders Broman of Lakeview Christian Academy added 16 for Minnesota.

While Minnesota lost in the girls game, it was still an interesting night for them, if nothing else to see the athletically gifted Savannah Trapp join the boys in the annual dunk contest. Trapp, a 6’9″ junior center, became a fan favorite with a number of dunks in the exhibition.

Katie Myhre, who an evening before led her team to a win in the Polar League All-Star game with 29 points, again was her team’s leader in points with 17 points. Joining Myhre from Barnum was Claire Rodgers who finished with eight points and Trapp who added two points.
