The Polar League held its annual Polar League All-Star Games on Monday night in Barnum with plenty of flair and dramatics to go around for any basketball fan. Katie Myhre helped to lead the Black team to win the girls division, and on the boys side it was more of the same with Jackson Lindquist leading the black team to victory.

Myhre not only was on the winning team for the girls by hitting seven 3-pointers and scoring 29 points, but she also won the 3-point shooting contest with 16 total points, one more than the 15 points of Ashley Deschampe of Cook County. The winning Black team was coached by Keith Turner. Deschampe led the green team with 24 points and also carried a hot hand from the 3-point contest to the game.

Black team scoring was led by the outside shooting of Myhre with 29 points and seven 3-pointers, as well as the inside game of Savanna Trapp with 19 points. Others scoring for the black team were Claudia Turner with 8, Lindsey Dahl-Holm 7, Marisa Shady 7, Taylor Miller 3, Brooke Schramm 3, and rounded out with 2 points by Abby Hawkinson.

Deschampe had a great game and led the Green team with 24 points and three 3-pointers. Shawna Behrendt added 14, MaKayleigh Cahoon 12, Molli Durovec 7, Alicia Nopola 6, Claire Rogers 5, Lacey Myrdal 4, and Bekah Laky with 2 points.

On the boys side it was also the Black team, coached by Adam Bailey getting off to a quick start on their way to a 135-107 win. Polar League MVP Jackson Lindquist of Esko carried the hammer most of the game for the winning side. Lindquist’s teammate Casey Staniger won the boys 3-point contest by amassing 19 points. The two teams combined for a whopping 242 total points on the evening.

Lindquist’s 23 points and five 3-pointers led the way for the black team that saw every scorer hit at least one 3-pointer. A pair of Rebels hit double figures in scoring with Taylor Mattison hitting 20 and Caleb Koecher with 18. Bobby Mikkinen had 19, Kyle Blood and Staniger with 11 each, Kale Boomer 10 and David Bergstrom 9. Jake Disterhaupt and Dan Gelhar rounded out the scoring with 7 each.

The Green team was led by 23 points from Carlton’s Erik Adams, who did his best to send Bulldogs Coach Adam Bailey home a loser; but came up a bit short. Others scoring for the Green team were Jake Naslund 15, Dylan Quiafe 14, Marc Peterson, Luke Thun, and Jake Ramberg all with 10, Kory Deadrick 7, Ross Schminski 7, Danny Warpula 5, Kyle Omtvedt 4, and Colin Everson with 2 points.
