Esko Continues To Roll As Playoffs Begin

ESKO- The Esko Eskomos opened up Section 7AA play Thursday night with a first round match-up versus the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers; and after waiting through two Section 7A playoff games that ran long, the Eskomos came out quickly and dominated play as the Eskomos won 65-31 at home Thursday night.


The Eskomos worked the ball inside to Savanna Trapp on five of their first seven offensive possessions and Trapp converted on all but one and the Eskomos jumped out to a huge lead in the first half. Trapp who finished with 19 first half points, and in very limited playing time led Esko to a 44-16 lead at half.


Esko came out on fire to start the second half as they went on a 19-2 run to give themselves a 45 point lead at 63-18, with eight minutes remaining in the second half. The Hilltoppers finished the contest with their own 15-2 run to close the final margin of victory.


Esko was led by Trapp who finished with21 points, Marisa Shady added 10, Brooke Schramm finished with 8, Bailey Mudek added 7, Ashley Bergerson, Erika Shady, and Megan Reuer all had 4, Kallyn Knutson had 2, and Hailey Salo 1.


The Hilltoppers were led by Camille McKee who scored 10 points; Maddie Olson and Angela Katoski each added 6, Molly Mathews 4, and it was Gabby Nordman who ended the Hilltoppers scoring with 2 points.


Esko improves to 24-3 overall and they will face Virginia on Saturday night at UMD in the Section 7AA quarterfinals. That winner will face the winner of Mora and ML-WR on Tuesday night again at UMD. Duluth Marshall sees their season end with a 2-25 overall record.
