Matt Arnold stood tall in the Duluth net Tuesday night, stopping 46 of 49 shots, including several key saves to hedge a third period rally as the Clydesdales beat the Iron Range Ironheads 4-3 to get the first franchise victory.

Former CEC forward Ben Michaud got the Clydes on the board at the 9:12 mark of the first period with a power play goal with Cody Stettin assisting on the play. Stettin later scored what turned out to be the game winner late in the third period. Duluth also got goals Jon Ringstad, and Ryan Tront.

For Michaud it was his eighth goal of the year. Michaud has also racked up 17 assists for 25 total points while seeing action in 41 games for the Clydesdales.

On the losing side, Casey Skolnik led the way, getting the first goal of the game for an early Range lead and assisting Saylor Preston to start the attempted comeback. Brendan Leavitt notched the remaining goal for the visitors, who saw backstop Chris Stokke take the loss, giving up 4 on 37 shots.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again Wednesday Feb 29 in Chisholm for the second game of the playoff series, weather permitting of course.
