Cloquet native Liz Palkie continues to shine for the University of Minnesota-Duluth women’s track team. On Saturday Palkie set the school record in the 1,500 meter run and posted the seventh best time this track season in Division II.

Palkie’s time of 4:35.05 bested the former mark of Lynn Stotler. Stottler set the previous school record of 4:35.95 back in 1987.

During her running career at UMD Palkie has set numerous records on the indoor track and outdoors and she has qualified for the national meet twice in the 800 meters indoors. Her winning time at the 9th Annual Lee Krough Invitational in St. Peter was also fast enough as an NCAA provisional qualifying time for the national meet coming up later this spring.
