The Esko Eskomos picked up yet another win on the season they knocked off the Cromwell Cardinals in a Polar League Conference match-up Thursday night at Esko High School. The Eskomos came away with the 52-29 win.

The first half saw the Cardinals trying to slow the tempo of the game and it worked to some extent as Esko and Cromwell battled to a low scoring first half in which Esko built up a nine point 19-10 lead at halftime. Cromwell tried to use the same strategy that Crosby-Ironton did last Saturday in a Ranger win over Esko.

Esko, who captured the Polar League Championship last week in a victory over Barnum finishes 10-0 in Polar League play. Cromwell finished 7-9 in Polar League play on the season. Savanna Trapp added 7 rebounds and 10 blocks to her career totals as she is now moving in on 500 blocks for her career.

Trapp led nine Eskomos in the scoring column on Thursday, finishing with 17 points. Bailey Mudek joined Trapp in double figures with 10, Brook Schramm 8, Megan Reuer 6, Kallyn Knutson 4, Marisa Shady, Erika Shady, and Steph Bandelin all had 2 points; and rounding out the scoring was Hailey Salo with 1 point. Esko was 9-15 from the charity stripe.

Cromwell was led by MaKayleigh Cahoon with 10 points, Allie Cahoon added 7 points, Kayle Johnson, and Mar Westin both chipped in with 4, Christina Stenson added 2, and it was Ann Collman and Brittany Johnson both finished with 1 point.

The Eskomos improve to 23-2 overall on the season and they will finish up on Saturday when they will face Duluth East in a non-conference match-up. Esko will begin sectional play at home next Wednesday night when they will host Marshall. Cromwell finishes the season 11-13 and will start Section 7A playoffs next Thursday. It appears they will face McGregor in the opening round.
