Bulldogs Grab Impressive 60-39 Win Over Floodwood

The Carlton Bulldogs boys basketball team picked up a Polar League Conference victory Friday night over the Floodwood Polar Bears by a score of 60-39 at Carlton High School on Homecoming night for the Bulldogs.


The Bulldogs who have won two of their last three games played a near flawless first half and jumped out to an early lead Friday night as the Bulldogs built up an 18 point halftime lead at 32-14. The Bulldogs and the Polar Bears battled fairly evenly in the second half but the Bulldogs still went on to the 21 point win.


The Bulldogs had a consistent night offensively has they had three players in double figures on the night. The win by Carlton was the fourth conference win of the year and also moved Carlton to 4-7 in section play.


The Bulldogs were led by junior Erik Adams, who finished with 27 points on the night. Dekota Frear added 11, Lane Empson scored 10, it was Zach Veno finishing with 5, Kyle Gunderson added 4, Spencer Walton had 2, and it was Dominic Bennett ending with 1 point for the Bulldogs.


The Polar Bears were led by Justin Hall who had 14 points, Riley Bernsdorf scored 10, Jarred Heggedahl scored 9, Willow Christenson finished with 4 points, and it was Ryder Lough who closed the Floodwood scoring with 2.


The Bulldogs improve to 5-14 on the season and they will be in action again Monday night when they host East Central, the Bulldogs will close out their home season on Tuesday versus Two Harbors. Friday night they end the Regular season with a battle against rival Wrenshall at Wrenshall High School. The Bulldogs could possibly run the table as their last three opponents have combined for a total of five wins on the season.


The Polar Bears fall to 10-11 overall on the season and they will be back in action again on Tuesday night when they take on the Cardinals at Cromwell. Floodwood will be home on Thursday when they host South Ridge.
