Proctor Girls Get Sixth Win In Impressive Fashion

The Lady Rails of Proctor picked up their sixth win of the season Friday night as the Rails defeated the Jaguars of Hinckley-Finlayson by a score of 66-26. The Rails had three players in double figures as they win they win non-conference game at home.


The Rails, who have struggled the past few season with victories picked up their sixth win, the most since the 2007 season.


The first half saw the Rails and the Jaguars battle fairly close with Proctor hanging on to a seven point, 31-24 lead at the break. The second half it was the Rails exploding for 35 points compared to only 12 for Hinckley-Finlayson as they went on to the 40 point win.


The Rails were led by Bridget Tesser who finished with 16 points on the night, Brianna Westendorf added 14, Kyra Harty hit for 11, Micayla Westendorf added 9, Krista Mottonen added 6, Kortney Hjerpe and Kyla Merrill each had 4, and it was Steph Torgeson finishing with 2 points for the Rails.


Hinckley-Finlayson was led by Ashley Johnson who scored 9 points, Hannah Stafne and Olivia Erickson both added 6, Maia Miller chipped in with 5, Laken Lymbruner, Breezy Schultz, Kalynda Nelson, Brittany Smith, and Megan Mohs all scored 2 points for the Jaguars.


The Rails improve to 6-17 on the season and they are home Saturday afternoon as they host Aitkin and try to pick up their seventh win of the season. Proctor will then be on the road next Thursday when they face the Lumberjacks at Cloquet High School. The Jaguars fall to 0-20 on the season and they will face Wrenshall at home Tuesday night.
