Hermantown LSC All-Sports Champion, Cloquet Runner-UP

Each year, the Lake Superior Conference determines an All-Sports Champion. The eight participating schools are ranked based on their average finish in each sport in which their school participates. The lower the overall number the better.

Following the spring sport season, the Hermantown Hawks were crowned as the 2008-2009 All-Sports Champion with an average finish of 2.1. That means when you combine the finish of all 20 sports throughout the year for Hermantown they averaged just barely below a second place finish.

The Cloquet Lumberjacks finished in second place with an average finish of 3.4, while Duluth Central was third with an average finish of 3.8. Both Cloquet and Central participated in 21 sports in all.

Ashland finished fourth with a 4.0 average. Superior was fifth, Duluth Denfeld was sixth, Duluth Marshall took seventh and Proctor was last with an average finish of 5.3.

Average Place Finish Plan

Each school will take the finish in the standings for each conference activity and after totaling and dividing by the number of activities the school sponsors, an average finish is known.
The lowest number, or the overall most excellent average conference finish is the school earning the championship.
In total, the conference sponsors 22 athletic activity programs.
For the 2008-2009, 22 programs are recognized for championships.
