CEC Girls Lead Nordic All-Conference Ski Teams With Four Athletes

Despite a lack of snow local high school Nordic ski teams have found a way to get out and compete, and as a result, the Lake Superior Conference has named their 2011-2012 All-Conference boys and girls Nordic teams with 10 skiers on each squad.

Gavin Johnson, Matt Welch and Jacob Welch helped put three Hermantown/Proctor athletes on the boys first team, while Denfeld also had three skiers; Nate LaFond, Kai Larsen and Warren Rosholt, make the team. Duluth Marshall also joined the band wagon with Joe Fairbanks, Sam Johnson and Cody Johnson all were named first team as was Cloquet-Esko-Carlton’s Matt Rengo.

The girls team was led by four Cloquet-Esko-Carlton skiers; Molly Meysembourg, Korbyn Danialson, Erika Fox and Alyssa Michaelson. Natalie Stauber, Anna VanDeelen and Siera Moen from Proctor/Hermantown were also named to the squad. Megan Couglin and Ann Kleinschmidt of Marshall and Denfeld’s Madeline Stauber round out the team.
