LSC Announces Girls Hockey All-Conference Team

The Lake Superior Conference has made their 2011-2012 All-Conference selections in girls hockey. Leading the team is a trio of players from the Duluth Denfeld/East team and a pair of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks.

The goaltender on the first team was Meghan Hanson of Denfeld/East and she was joined by fellow Dynamite players Sarah Buckner and Nikki Logergren. Buckner is a defender and Logergren is a forward. CEC’s senior center Dalyce Gustafson also made the first team along with junior defender Carley Esse. Rounding out the first team was Reilly Fawcett, a sophomore forward from Proctor/Hermantown.

CEC’s Alyssa Acheson was the goaltender on the second team and was joined by teammate Kelly Carlson, a feisty forward for the Jacks. Melinda Nelson of Proctor/Hermantown and Superior’s Kaitlyn Mergen were the defenders on the second team. Justina Lindberg a forward from Proctor/Hermantown and East/Denfeld forward Claudia Gagnon was also named to the second team.

Ari Jago of Superior and East/Denfeld defender Sarah Lyle were named honorable mention candidates.
