Cardinals Get Road Win Over Carlton

For the second time this season the Cromwell Cardinals have defeated the Carlton Bulldogs in Polar League action. Tuesday night the Cardinals knocked off the Bulldogs by a final score of 66-41 at Carlton High school.

The Cardinals took control in the first half early on and never looked back as they picked up the conference win. The Cardinals had three players in double figures as Cromwell won their second consecutive game for the first time all season.

The Cardinals built up a 29-15 lead at halftime with the help of a 3-pointer at the buzzer and opened the second half with a 6-0 run to blow open the contest. Carlton answered with a 6-0 run of their own but it wasn’t enough as Cromwell rolled to the 25 point road win. The Bulldogs were hoping to make it two wins in a row on Tuesday night.

The Cardinals were led by Jared Hutar who finished with 19 points, Jack Ramberg added 15, Austin Johnson scored 13, Richard Olson finished with 6, Joe Couture added 5, Austin Pfisthner chipped in with 4, Luis Martins and Josh Oliver closed the scoring with 2 each.

The Bulldogs were led by Erik Adams, who poured in with 17 points, Lane Empson added 11, Spencer Walton added 5, Dekota Frear chipped in with 4, Zach Veno and exchange student Fernando Bernadin each finished with 2 points in the loss.

The Cardinals improve to 6-13 on the season and they will travel to McGregor on Friday night to take on the Mercuries in a Polar League Conference match-up. They are on the road on Monday when they face Northland and will be home Tuesday versus Floodwood.

The Bulldogs fall to 4-14 overall on the season and they will home on Friday when they host Floodwood in a Polar League Conference match-up. Carlton will also be home Monday and Tuesday when the host East Central and Two Harbors.
