Eskomo Girls Get 20th Win Set To Battle Barnum On Thursday

The Esko Eskomos picked up their twentieth win of the season Monday night as the Eskomos knocked off the Duluth Denfeld Hunters 61-45 in a non-conference battle at Esko High School on Monday night.


The Eskomos jumped on the Hunters fast Monday night as the built up a 19 point half time lead of 36-17. The Eskomos continued to roll in the second half as they went on to win by 18 points at home.


The Eskomos picked up their 12 consecutive win and look to keep their momentum going as they finish up the regular season next week. The Eskomos just finished the last of six straight home games; they will be on the road for the next three.


The Eskomos were paced by Savanna Trapp who finished with 20 points on the night, she also added 11 rebounds. Marisa Shady added 13 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Megan Reuer scored 9 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Eskomos.


The rest of the Eskomos scoring was Kallyn Knutson who scored 8 points, Brooke Schramm who added 7, Steph Bandelin chipped in with 3 points, and it was Kailee Katt who finished up the Eskomos scoring with 1 point.


The Hunter were led by Leah Hamm who finished with 19 Points in the loss; she also connected on five 3-pointers. Haylee Johnson added 8 points, Emily DesMarais finished with 4, Cianna Taipale and Emily Fleissner both chipped in with 3, while four other girls scored 2 points each.


The Eskomos move to 20-1 overall on the season and they will be back in action again on Thursday night when they will face the Barnum Bomber in a battle to determine the Polar League Champion. The will travel to Crosby on Saturday to face the Rangers.


The Hunters fall to 5-15 overall on the season and they will travel to Ashland on Thursday to face the Oredockers in a Lake Superior conference battle. The Hunters will finish up the regular season when the travel to Bemidji to take on the Lumberjacks.
