BARNUM- Friday night the Barnum Bombers exploded for 10 3-pointers as the Bombers won a 74-33 contest at Barnum High School. Rodney Mullen Jr. led the Bombers as he connected on four long range shots an led the Bombers in scoring as the Bombers pick up the huge Polar League win Friday night.


The first half started slowly with both teams struggling with turnovers and poor shooting. The Bombers led by eight at 19-11 late in the half when Mullen sparked an offensive run as Barnum went on a 17-8 run to close out the first half with Mullen hitting three long range bombs to distance the two teams.


The Bombers went into halftime with a 35-18 lead, and when the second half started they picked up where they left off in the first half as they quickly extended their lead to 30 points. Brandon Newman hit a 3-pointer and made a few spectacular drives to the basket that gave the Bombers the huge lead.


The Bombers out rebounded the Mercuries by a 39 to 26 margin and they also shot 45 % from the field while McGregor shot 35% for the game. Barnum also shot an amazing 45 % from beyond the 3-point line on the night. Besides Mullen and his four 3-pointers, Brandon Newman hit two, as did Brandon King.


The Bombers were led by Mullen and his 16 points. Danny Warpula added 11, Newman finished with 10, Bobby Minkinen scored 9, Jacob Nausland chipped in with 8, Nick Jelinick added 5, Wyatt Finifrock scored 4, Branden King added 3, Andrew Knight, Sam Anderson, John Zmyslony, and Jack Blummer all scored 2 points.


The Mercuires were led by Dan Gelinick, who finished with 19 points on the night. Dylan Wilkie added 7 points, it was Ben Belz adding 6 points for McGregor and rounding out the scoring was Nich Fistere who closed the scoring with 1 point on the night.


McGregor falls to 9-9 on the season and they will host Oglivie on Tuesday night.


The Bombers improve to 17-3 on the season and will be in action Monday night when they host Pillager. The Bombers will also face Esko next Friday night in a contest which may determine the Polar League Conference Champion.
