Yellowjacket head softball coach Roger Plachta has been busy, already landing recruits that will be counted on to replace a large senior class that will graduate in 2012. He has added another piece to that puzzle by adding his third commitment, Kelly Carlson to the fold for the 2013 season.

Her senior season will be her fourth season as the starter at second base for the Lumberjacks where she was a First-Team All-Lake Superior Conference selection.

Carlson is also a member Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjack girls hockey team, where she has been a team captain and an all-conference selection.

Carlson, an honor student, plans to major in elementary education at UW-Superior.

“Kelly will be a great addition to our university and softball program.” said Plachta. “Kelly scored a 31 on her ACT and could have gotten scholarships to many universities but chose Superior for the elementary education program.”
