Denfeld Knocks Off Hawks In LSC Battle

The Denfeld duo of Andrew Laughlin and Derek Meger combined for 45 points and the Hunters used a first half spurt to down Hermantown 65-51.

Laughlin finished with 24 points and Meger pitched in with 21 points to help the Hunters to the home win. Denfeld sprinted out to a 38-20 halftime lead and were never threatened by the Hawks.

Leading Hermantown was Spencer Johnson with 14 points and Corey Anderson 12 points, It was six points for Alex Schmies, Justin Brendon, Kole Zuidmulder and Alex Comstock each had four points, while Parker Anderson and Kevin Folman each recorded two points.

Jodeston Robinson added six points for Denfeld, it was Sam Humes scoring nine points, Sergei Hanka added three points and Kjell Randa recorded two points.

Hermantown is now 12-7 after the loss, having taken on two of the section’s toughest opponents, Denfeld and Grand Rapids in their past two games. The Hawks will be off for an entire week before they host Chisago Lakes Area on Saturday February 11 at 5:30pm.


The win pushes the Hunters record to 14-4 overall and 6-0 in the Lake Superior Conference.
