Cook County used a little bit of luck at the end of the game against Barnum in boys basketball on Friday night. Barnum’s leading scorer Jacob Naslund launched a last second shot the length of the court that nearly went in, but instead bounced harmlessly away, and the Vikings came out with a 50-49 win over the Bombers.

Barnum came into the game with only two losses and the Vikings had only one loss on the season. At halftime it looked like the Vikings would pull away to an easy win as they led it 32-24. However, the always tough Bombers fought back to outscore the Vikings 25-18 as they came up just short on the scoreboard and the final shot of the game.

Naslund was magnificent again as he led the Bombers with 25 points, Jaxson Turner added eight, it was six for Daniel Warpula, Bobby Minkkinen scored five, and Rodney Mullin finished with three points for the Bombers.

David Berstrom finished with 17 points to lead the Vikings, both Collin Everson and Kale Boomer each had 10 points, Dylan Quaife finished with nine, Mike Sjogren added three points and Justin Goldstein had a single point for the Vikings.

Barnum is now 14-3 on the season, while the Vikings improved to 15-1 overall.
