FDLTCC Football Team Members Sign To Play Division I Football

CLOQUET, MN – Two Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Football team members signed national Letters of Intent today to attend universities and play football at the NCAA Division I level next season. A total of six Thunder Football student athletes who will graduate from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College this year will continue their collegiate playing careers next season.


Signing Letters of Intent on national signing day include:


Kevin Eugene signed with Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils in Itta Bena, MS, a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). Eugene, a defensive back and kick returner, was a two-time captain of the Thunder. Kevin was a two-time member of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference All-Academic team and was named All-Conference both seasons he played for the Thunder. He is a 2008 graduate of Miami Carol City Senior High School in Miami, FL, and will pursue a major in Business Management.


Ron Johnson, signed with Savannah State University in Savannah, GA, a member of the Middle Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Johnson, a defensive tackle, had 73 tackles, 9 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles last season for the Thunder. He was named to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference All-Conference Team, and the NJCAA All-Region 13 Team. Johnson is a 2008 graduate of Redford Uniion High School in Redford, MI, and will graduate this spring from Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College and plans to pursue a major in Business Management.


Four other members of the 2011 Thunder Football team graduated after Fall Semester and have already transferred to attend four-year institutions and play football, these players are:


Worrell Troup, a linebacker from Miami Coral Gables Senior High School, was recruited and accepted an offer as a preferred walk-on player with Division I Florida International University in Miami.


Jameel Franklin, a linebacker/defensive back from First Coast High School in Jacksonville, FL, signed with Division I Southern Mississippi, a member of Conference USA, and located in Hattiesburg, MS.


Michael Davis, a two-year starter at quarterback for the Thunder from Maury High School in Norfolk, VA, will join the College of St. Scholastica Saints football team next season.


Adrian Thompkins, a wide receiver from Northland High School in Miami, FL, will also join the College of St. Scholastica Saints next season.


The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder are a member of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and compete at the NJCAA Division III level. The college provides an outstanding academic environment and collegiate playing opportunities in six sports: football, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s fast-pitch softball, and men’s baseball. Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
