Carlton Boys Come Up Just Short In Re-Match With McGregor

For the second time this season, the Carlton Bulldogs and the McGregor Mercuries met in a Polar League conference battle and the results the same as they were a month ago. It was McGregor coming out on top by a score of 62-56. The first time these two teams met it was a triple overtime affair with McGregor winning a 79-75 thriller.


McGregor jumped out to an early first half lead as the Mercuries led 22-19 at the break. The second half saw more scoring than the first half when both teams tallied a combined 77 points. The Mercuries added to their three point halftime lead as they went on to win this conference contest by six points.


The Mercuries had four players reach double figures Tuesday night with Tim Tierney leading all scorers on the night with 22 points; including five 3-pointers. Alex Carlstrom finished with 17; it was Dylan Wilkie adding 11, Ben Belz scored 10 and it was Dan Gelher rounding out the McGregor scoring with 2 points.


The Bulldogs were led by Eric Adams who finished with 22 points for Carlton. Joining Adams in double figures were Kyle Gunderson and Lane Empson, both ended with 10 points, Zach Veno added 7, Dominic Bennett chipped in with 4, Dekota Frear added 2, and it was Spencer Walton closing the scoring with 1 point in the Bulldogs loss at home.


The Bulldogs fall to 3-11 overall and they will host Moose Lake-Willow River in a conference match up Friday night at home. McGregor improves to 9-7 and they host the Esko Eskomos on Friday night.
