“Pink The Rink” Event Scheduled For Monday Jan 16

Monday, January 16th will be an important date in girls hockey in the Northland. Amsoil Arena will host the First Annual Maurices ‘Pink the Rink” Madness hockey event.

‘Pink the Rink’ will feature two games including a 6pm game that features Grand Rapids/Greenway versus Proctor/Hermantown which will be followed by an 8pm game between Cloquet-Esko-Carlton and the Duluth Northern Stars.

According to organizers it will be a three-fold event with the first phase to have fun, secondly to raise money for the American Cancer Society and finally to set a Minnesota High School attendance record for regular season girls hockey games.

A few of the activities slated for the event are:

All students, no matter the age, will be admitted free of charge by simply wearing something pink.

In fact, there will be some valuable prizes given to the best “Dressed in Pink” costumes.

Faculty game between Duluth East and Duluth Denfeld High Schools.

Youth Girls’ games between periods of participating communities.

Door Prizes, Raffles and much, much more.


Amsoil Arena is the new arena located at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center site and is the new home to the University of Minnesota Duluth men’s and women’s hockey teams.
