Esko Boys Split In Wood City Classic

The Esko boys basketball team suffered a tough first round loss at the Wood City Classic in Cloquet on Tuesday. The Eskomos saw a tight game get away from them and fell 65-49 to Blake. On Wednesday the Eskomos made sure there was no repeat of the opening game by trouncing East Central 94-42 in their second game of the tournament held annually in Cloquet.

Jackson Lindquist with 20 points, Jared Harms with 19, Kory Deadrick with 17 and Casey Staniger with 12 points helped to lead a deep effort on the offensive side of the floor in the win over East Central. Marc Peterson added eight for Esko, while they also got six from Bobby Wright, four points from Ben Hanson, three from Grant Iverson, two each from Derek Pantsar and Jacob Lindstrom and a single point from Reed Bakken.

Esko outscored East Central 51-21 in the first half and 43-21 in the second half to pull out the easy win.

In their opening game against Blake the Eskomos were even with the Bears late in the first half when the Bears went on a 6-0 run to end the half which allowed Blake to take a 36-25 lead entering the break.

The real back breaker for the Eskomos came at the start of the second half when Blake went on a 22-0 run which allowed them to pull away to the win.

Kory Deadrick led the Eskomos with 23 points and was the only player in double digits for Esko. Jackson Lindquist put down nine points, Marc Peterson had eight points, Jared Harms scored four, it was three for Casey Staniger and Bobby Wright had two points.
