Barnum Sweeps Silver Bay

The Barnum Bomber boys and girls basketball teams swept the Silver Bay Mariners in a Polar League match up in Barnum on Friday night. The lady Bombers opened the night with an 84-9 win; and in the night cap it was the Barnum boys picking up the 79-32 win at home.


Daron Mainville scored 25 points Friday night as the Bombers jumped out to a 60-7 lead at halftime and never looked back to win this Polar League contest at home. Barnum had three players in double figures and they hit six 3-pointers in the victory Friday night.


Claudia Turner followed Mainville with 15 points and Katie Myhre added 10 points, including three 3-pointers in the win. The Bombers with the win move to 4-1 on the season and they are in action again on Saturday afternoon when they will face the Eagles of New Life Academy in a boy and girls double header.


The Barnum boys jumped out early as well Friday night as they cruised to a half time lead of 43-11 and rolled to the 47 point win at home. The Bombers improved to 2-0 on the season with the Polar League conference victory.


Bobby Minkkinen exploded for 24 points, Jacob Naslund chipped in with 14 and it was Brandon Newman who added 11 in the Bombers win at home. The Bombers connected on 10 3-pointers in the victory. Barnum also had nine players get into the scoring column on the night. Luke Thun led the Mariners with 14 points overall.


The Bombers improve to 2-0 on the season and they will face the New Life Academy Eagles on Saturday afternoon as well at New Life Academy. The Bombers will also be on the road next week with games at McGregor on Tuesday and on Thursday the Bombers will play at Proctor in a non-conference contest.
