There was a lot of excitement building in the city of Carlton on Monday afternoon as the buildup to see one of Minnesota’s best players was about to happen when Lakeview Christian Academy hit the floor against the Carlton boys in high school basketball. The excitement ebbed when it was found out prior to the game that Anders Broman would not play due to the flu. Instead, his younger brother Bjorn Broman took the scoring reigns and led the Lions to a 67-56 win over the Bulldogs.

In week one of the season Anders Broman dumped in 56 points and is currently one of the all-time leading scorers in state history despite being only a junior. Broman currently has 2579 career points which ranks him 14th in Minnesota high school history. Holding the career record is

Bjorn Broman, who is younger than Anders, pumped in 24 points lead as the Lions pulled away from a 3-point halftime lead to take the victory.

The Lions also got a solid 15-point effort from Josh Plys and 11 from Luke Borchardt. Also scoring were; Adam Fuchs with eight points, Jonathan Hardy added seven and it was two points for Ethan Lawler.

Carlton had three players in double figure scoring led by Erik Adams with 19 points, Lane Empson finished with 13 points and it was 12 points for Dakota Frear. Both Kyle Gunderson and Spencer Walton finished with six points for Carlton.

The teams were nearly identical from the free throw line, but the Lions outscored the Bulldogs from the field 57 to 45.

Lakeview Christian Academy led just 30-27 at the break, but then outscored the Bulldogs 37-29 in the second half to pull out to the win.
