The Floodwood Polar Bears picked up their second win of the season as the Polar Bears knocked off the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels Thursday night by a score of 47-36 at Moose Lake High School.

The Polar Bears jumped out to an early first half lead as they took a 24-15 lead at halftime. Floodwood and the Rebels battled fairly evenly in the second half, but the Rebels could never gain the momentum and cut into the Polar Bears lead.

The Rebels, who have lost two straight had a hard time container Floodwood’s senior forward Molli Durovec who scored a game high 25 points in the Polar Bears Polar League win on Thursday night.

The Rebels were led by Shaelyn Halverson who finished with 10 points on the night, Adri Jusczak finished with 7 points, Olivia Bennett and Samantha Johnson both added 6 points for the Rebels, Hayley Johnson added 4 and Taylor Miller closed the Rebels scoring with 3 points.

Following Durovec and her 25 points, it was Shawna Behrendt who added 7 points, Erika Scharnberg and Sydney Lough each had 6, Sara Scharnberg finished with 2 points, and it was Stacey Larva who ended with 1 point in the Polar Bear victory.

The Rebels fall to 2-2 on the season and they will be back in action again on Monday night when they will host the Aitkin Gobblers at Moose Lake High School. The Polar Bears improve to 2-2 on the season and they are back in action Monday as well when they face the Northland Hornets.
