The Barnum Bomber girl’s softball team advanced to the section 5A finals last week with an 8-0 win over the Ogilvie Lions. With the win over Ogilvie, the Bombers will now face Maple Lake in a battle of the two unbeaten teams in the Section 5A tournament. The game is scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30pm.

Maple Lake, the defending Section 5A champions, will face the Barnum Bombers again this season when the two battle for the section championship. The Irish defeated
the Bombers
twice last season to advance to the state tournament, where they finished second to New Life Academy in last years Class A softball tournament. “Ashley Kempenich is an outstanding pitcher and we will need to be patient at the plate,” Myhre added.

“Maple Lake is a potent team,” Randy Myhre told Northland Sports Online. “They had thirteen games where they scored more then ten runs,” Myhre added. “And they had five games with more then fifteen runs, so they can score runs, that’s for sure.” Maple Lake defeated Osakis in their semi final game by the score 10-4.

The Irish enter the finals with a 19-3-1 record overall and
bring a six game winning streak into the match-up with Barnum. The Bombers are 16-1 as they get set to take on the Irish this Tuesday at Whitney Park in St. Cloud. The winner of that game will advance to the section championship game on Wednesday. The loser will face the winner of the Osakis and Ogilvie game scheduled for 6:00pm on Tuesday.
