Section 7AA Baseball Pairings Set

The Section 7AA boys baseball pairings are now set. Sectional play began on Friday with Aitkin
playing Crosby-Ironton. That winner will go on to face the number one seeded Mora Mustangs.

The Cloquet Lumberjacks are the number two seed in the south sub-section. The Lumberjacks will face the Pine City Dragons in opening round action on Wednesday in Cloquet. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm.

Moose Lake–Willow River is the four seed and will host the fifth seeded Esko Eskomos on Wednesday at Moose Lake High School. This game is also scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm. The winner of the Moose Lake-Willow River game will go on to face a possible match-up with the number one seeded Mora Mustangs. Mora will face either Crosby-Ironton or Aitkin in the first round.

Cloquet enters the section tournament 12-8 overall.
This game
will be the first meeting between Pine City and Cloquet this season. Moose Lake-Willow River enters sectional play with a record of 14-4 and is riding a five game win streak, including a 5-1 win over Esko on May 14th. Esko enters the playoffs with a 10-9 overall record. The Eskomos have struggled down the stretch losing two of their last three games.

The other South Sub-Section game will feature Rush City playing at Two Harbors. In the North Sub-Section it will be the number one seeded International Falls Broncos hosting Duluth Marshall. That winner will face the winner of Greenway and Hibbing. Virginia, the two seed, hosts Eveleth-Gilbert and that winner will face either the number three seed Hermantown Hawks or the sixth seed Proctor Rails.

Quarterfinal and semi-final action will be Thursday, May 28th. The semi-finals will be a double elimination tournament. The finals of the double elimination final four teams will conclude June 2nd and 4th at Hibbing
