Pipestone Area made its way to the Class AA championship game for the second time in the past three seasons following a 28-6 victory over Moose Lake/Willow River in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 17 at U.S. Bank Stadium.
In 2015, the Arrows (12-1) lost to Caledonia in the Class AA championship game. On Friday, Nov. 24, Pipestone Area will get another chance at Caledonia with a title at stake. Pipestone was also the Class A runner-up in 1980.

The latest Pipestone squad used timely big plays to earn its third berth in a championship game. Senior wide receiver Tyl Woebel caught two long touchdown passes during Pipestone’s spree of 28 unanswered points. He had a 28-yard reception from junior quarterback Cody

Thompson early in the second quarter and then had a 71-yard reception from Thompson with two minutes remaining in the half as the Arrows built a 20-6 lead at the break. Thompson completed 10 of 14 passes for 209 yards.

Junior running back Trent Juhl rushed for 140 yards on 24 carries and the lone touchdown for Moose Lake/Willow River.
