The Barnum Bombers got off to a fast start on Saturday, winning their first round baseball playoff game. The hosting Bombers beat Cromwell 13-3 Saturday afternoon. The Barnum Bombers were the sixth seed entering the Section 7A baseball playoffs.

Barnum started fast on Saturday and came out swinging the bats well.
The Bombers
had eighteen hits in the ten run victory. “We hit the ball well today,” head coach Dave Duesler told Northland Sports Online. “Our fast start was nice as we played pretty well…We stayed focused for almost the whole game so it was nice to get the win and move on in the playoffs,” Duelser added.

Cody Hagenbeck was the winning pitcher for the Bombers. Hagenbeck had a perfect game going into the fifth inning before a Bomber error ended the chance at perfection. Hagenbeck pitched six innings, giving up three hits and
three runs,
only one of which was earned. He struck out eight Cardinal batters.

The Barnum Bombers improve their overall record to 10-10 on the season and will be in action again on Wednesday when they play the Carlton Bulldogs at Chub Lake Park. The Cromwell Cardinals’ season comes to an end as they finish 1-17 overall on the season.
