Hanson, Lange Receive Postseason Honors

Senior right side hitter April Hansen and sophomore outside hitter Kate Lange received postseason honors Saturday, both being named to the Central Regional All-Tournament Team for their production during two rounds of the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Hansen posted 22 kills on 40 swings for the University of Minnesota Duluth, hitting .375 for the Bulldogs while Lange added 26 kills, four aces and 28 digs.

UMD swept the 10th-ranked Wayne State Wildcats in round one, before losing out to No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul in the second round. The Golden Bears swept through all three matches they played, advancing out of the region with wins against the 19th, seventh and ninth-ranked teams in the nation. Concordia had four players named to the All-Tournament Team, and Southwest Minnesota State added three, rounding out the NSIC players earning recognition.

The Bulldogs finished the 2011 season with a 28-4 record.
