Eskomos Get First Ever State Tournament Volleyball Win

The Esko Eskomos fell Saturday in the girl’s consolation finals at the Xcel energy center as the Eskomos closed out another very successful season. Friday the Eskomos defeated Visitation by a score of 3-2 but the fell Saturday to Sauk Center in three straight games to finish sixth overall in the girls 2011 state class AA tournament.


On Friday Stephanie Bandelin finished with 27 kills and added two blocks as the Eskomos beat the Blazers 25-19, 23-25, 25-23, 20-25, and 15-9. Amanda Belden added 20 kills and she also had two blocks and 13 digs for the Eskomos. Stephanie Miller finished with 51 set assists and she added 8 digs. Kallyn Knutson finished with 21 digs in the win over the Blazers.


On Saturday the Eskomos ran into very good Mainstreeters team that swept the Eskomos 25-9, 25-19, and 25-21. Amanda Belden had 11 kills and 10 digs for the Eskomos, Stephanie Bandelin had 10 kills, 11 digs, and 2 blocks in the loss. Stephanie Miller added 29 set assists while Kallyn Knutson chipped in with 18 digs. Delany Pearson added 10 digs in the Eskomos loss Saturday.


The Eskomos finish the season with an overall record of 27-6 and a sixth place finish in the state girl’s tournament. Northland Sports Online would like to congratulate the Esko Eskomos players and coaches on an excellent season. NSO would also like to congratulate all the graduating seniors and wish the continued success.
