The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls tennis team kicked off the high school tennis season with a 4-3 win at home over the Superior Spartans on Tuesday. In the win the Jacks to three of four singles matches and they notched a win at #1 doubles to clinch the victory at Cloquet High School.

Victoria Mannino of CEC took a #1 singles win over Natalie Burger by stopping Burger 6-0, 6-0. At #2 singles it was Dana Hartman of the Jacks defeating Raya Kosey 6-0, 6-0. Reilly Kedrowski fell at #3 singles to Superior’s Jillisa Galindo, but Lora Chalich of CEC took the #4 singles match 6-2, 6-2 over the Spartans Breana Homich.

CEC clinched the win at #1 doubles when Lizz Jezierski and Alyssa Acheson downed Sarah DeVinck and Kallen Phillips 6-1, 6-2. Superior rebounded to win #2 doubles and #3 doubles matches. At #2 doubles it was Keely MCall and Jessica Engstrom beat the CEC team of Stephanie Campbell and Breanna Baker. At #3 doubles it was Sara Olson and Cassie Hanson of Superior beating Katrina Smith and Katelyn Litke 6-4, 6-1.
