Proctor, MN – Kyle Peterlin won his second WISSOTA Late Model feature of the season at the Proctor Speedway Sunday. Peterlin joins other Sunday winners who have multiple victories including Darrell Nelson, Modified, Dan Ebert Midwest Modified and Jeff Tardy, Super Stock. Mark Korte won his first Pure Stock feature of the season. 95 cars were on hand, including 28 pure stocks to compete in the five divisions.

The first feature of the evening was for the WISSOTA AMSOIL Dirt Track Series Midwest Modifieds. Lining up on the front row were Dan Doran and Dan Kingsley for the 20 lap event. At the green flag the pack boiled into the first turn, slid up the track and forced Skeeter Estey off the top of the turn. The second try went better as Doran grabbed the lead over Kingsley, but Kingsley took over as seventh starting Dan Ebert charged up to second followed by Taylor Leuthner and Lance Solem as Doran fell back to fifth.

The first full caution flag flew when Travis Nye spun at the bottom of turn two. At the restart Ebert, Kingsley and Leuthner staged a battle for the lead, while Solem and Deven Van House skirmished for fourth. The second caution flag appeared when Solem encountered problems, tried to leave the track but stalled on pit road. With 14 laps remaining at the restart, Ebert dived to the inside of Kingsley off turn two and completed the pass off turn four to take the lead. A turn four tangle involving Jeff Davis and Jeff Lien, Jr. quickly brought out caution flag number three. Davis’s car was towed off and Lien was able to continue.

At the green flag Ebert continued to lead with 11 laps to go. He had little trouble staying out front as the field began to get strung out around the speedway. Kingsley and Van House battled for second and began to make up ground on the leader. The caution flag flew when Lien spun in turn three ending his night. It was to be a green/white/checkered finish, but another caution flag for a Ross Siiter spin in turn two reset the finishing shootout. Ebert had little trouble maintaining the lead for his second feature win of the season at the Speedway. Kingsley, Van House, Rick Przybylski, and Estey rounded out the top five.

Andy Davey jumped to the lead from the outside of the front row to the early lead in the 20 lap WISSOTA Super Stock feature. Kevin Salin burst out of the pack to second and the battle for third featured a big pack of cars. Mike Bellefeuille broke from the pack to third followed by Jeff Tardy to fourth. Jay Kuras ran fifth and was challenged by Scott Lawrence. Bellefeuille looked took the outside of Salin, he couldn’t make the pass but was able to get by to second the next time by. Lawrence passed Kuras for fifth when a caution flag for a Brian Carl spin in turn four slowed the action.

The restart saw Davey still leading with Bellefeuille second, but he seemed to slip in turn two igniting a scramble amongst a number of cars that lasted down the back stretch until Salin shot off the top of turn two and crashed partially through the guardrail. Salin was not injured but the car saw heavy damage, as did the guardrail. There was a lengthy delay while the car was removed and large tires were moved in to cover the damaged section of guardrail. Bellefeuille was sent to the rear, but decided to retire for the event.

At the restart Davey was busy fending off Tardy and Lawrence, who were right behind him. Both Tardy and Lawrence muscled past Davey, but a turn four spin by Cody Carlson returned the lead to Davey. At the green flag, Tardy stole the lead from Davey and Lawrence got by into second as Davey fell back to battle with Andy Grymala for third. Apparently Davey had a tire deflating as he continued to drop back and ended his run in the infield.

As the laps began to wind down, Lawrence began to close on Tardy to six or seven car lengths as Grymala was now alone in fourth. Pat Heikkinen was in fifth but had company from Robbie Cooper and Ronnie Malecki. Tardy won his second feature of the season at the speedway with Lawrence second, Grymala third, Cooper fourth, and Malecki rounding out the top five.

It was 20 laps for the WISSOTA Modifieds and Jamie Davis and Nick Lavato duked it out for the early lead at the green flag. They were soon joined by Dan Ebert as Jody Bellefeuille surfaced in fourth while Darrell Nelson, Kevin Eder and Kelly Estey were in a fight for fifth. The caution flag appeared when Jayme Lautigar turned around at the bottom of turn two.

At the restart just at half way, Ebert eased ahead of Davis on the back stretch but Nelson split the two going for the lead. Nelson quickly widened his lead over Ebert who held about the same margin on Davis. Eder slipped by Davis into third as the white flag appeared. Nelson recorded the easy win over Ebert, Eder, Davis and Estey in fifth.

Next, the Pure Stock 15 lap feature rolled onto the track 20 cars strong with Mark Korte starting next to Corey Lonetto on the front row. Lonetto led the first lap by a whisker and Korte returned the favor the next time by. Lonetto broke free from the pack at the front as Ken Tody and Korte ran wheel to wheel for second. Josh Loucks and DJ Keeler raced for fourth and Austin Blom charged to fifth. The caution flag appeared for a tangle at the bottom of turn two involving Matt Deragon and Craig Horak, sending Deragon to the back.

The restart came with seven laps remaining, but didn’t last long as Loucks and Esten Nelson crashed in the first turn. At the restart Lonetto and Korte went for the lead side by side for a couple of laps until Blom joined the party. Korte, Lonetto, Loucks, Blom and Tody were in a tight bunch for the lead as the white flag flew. Korte went on to take his first feature win of the season. Lonetto, Tody, Loucks and Blom rounded out the top five.

The windup to the evening was the 25 lap WISSOTA Late Model feature which was led to the initial green flag by Joey Ogston and Cory Jorgensen. Ogston took the lead while Jorgensen slipped back leaving the battle for second to Jeff Provinzino, Kyle Peterlin and Darrell Nelson. With one lap in, the caution flag appeared and there was a delay while the disabled car of Jay Kintner was removed from the track. Provinzino got a good jump and got past Ogston for the lead at the restart and Peterlin followed suit a lap later. Peterlin set out after Provinzino as the pair put some distance on Ogston.

Nelson was also making up ground on Ogston running in fourth and Todd Gehl was in the top five. Nelson disposed of Ogston and took third as the half way point was reached. Peterlin caught Provinzino and they battled back and forth until Peterlin got a great run off turn two and took the lead. Provinzino was then faced with the task of keeping second from Nelson. Peterlin had a huge lead and lapped one car as the white flag flew. Peterlin won his second feature of the season at the speedway and his second of the week as he had swept at Grand Rapids the previous Thursday. Nelson got by Provinzino to second, Ogston hung onto fourth and Don Copp finished fifth.
