After sporting a 1-8 record last year, the Carlton Bulldogs are heading into the 2016 season with a fresh new look.  After hiring new head coach Andy Weber, the Bulldogs will look to make a splash in the Great Northern conference in nine-man play.

Coach Weber is ready, saying “It’s exciting being a first year head football coach here at Carlton.”  and “I am excited to see where this program can go.”

Weber hasn’t forgotten about the programs nine-man roots though, when former head coach Erik Hanson took over for the schools first ever nine-man team in it’s history back in 2012.  “I’m looking to build off of what coach Hanson started.” not forgetting the start of a new era in Carlton’s football history.

Returning many key players from last season on both sides of the ball, as well as getting some new additions, the Dogs will look to use both as advantages moving forward.

“We will be looking for contributions from our upperclassmen along with some underclassmen to fill roles on Varsity” said Weber.  Carlton will have a plethora of upperclassmen to choose from, especially from their group of five elected captains.  Isaiah Wallace (Senior), Jackson Mickle (Junior), Nate Nilsen (Senior), Keijo Day (Senior), and Sam Macor (Senior) will look to set the tone of the season for the rest of the team and provide leadership.

When asked about the team goal for the upcoming year, coach Weber replied “To play and work together as a team, to do the right things on and off the field as a team.”

Weber also added “Fans can expect to watch hard work and dedication come together on the field as the Bulldogs battle every Friday night.”

The Bulldogs will open their regular season play on Thursday night, as they travel to face off with Mountain-Iron-Buhl.
