Duluth Padres Fall To Blue Jays

DULUTH — The Oulu Blue Jays scored three runs in the eighth inning to pull away for a victory over the Duluth Padres in an Upper 13 League amateur baseball game Wednesday evening at Bulldog Park.

Winning pitcher Ben Grams allowed one run in eight innings on six hits and five walks. He had six strikeouts.

Luke Olin, Brad Dufek, and Andrew Urbaniak had two hits each for Oulu.

Losing pitcher Anthony Bush (2-5, 2.17 ERA) allowed two runs (one earned) in six-and-one-third innings. He had two strikeouts and walked one batter.

Duluth’s Bob Eastman had two hits, and broke the club’s single-season hit record of 24 set by Dan Solarz in 2008. Eastman, who is batting .310, now has 26 hits in 25 games played in 2011.

Oulu is now 5-5 in the Upper 13 League. Duluth falls to 5-6 in league games and 12-14 overall. Duluth hosts the Hibbing Miners in a non-league game at Bulldog Park on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
