Duluth Padres Pick Up 1-0 Win Behind Bush’s Complete Game

PORT WING, Wis. — Anthony Bush threw a complete game shutout as the Duluth Padres defeated the Port Wing Boilers 1-0 in an Upper 13 League amateur baseball game Monday at Anderson-Samuelson Field in Port Wing.

Bush (2-2, 1.46 ERA) had eight strikeouts. He allowed 11 hits, one walk, and one hit batsman.

Duluth’s Corey Pavlich singled to lead off the top of the first inning, advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Tim Nylund, moved to third on a ground out by Nick Moran, and scored on a passed ball.

Losing pitcher John Rautio allowed three hits and no earned runs in a complete game effort. He had five strikeouts, two walks, and two hit batsmen.

Port Wing’s Adam Ryan had three hits, and T.J. Polkoski and Keith Bailey had two hits each for the Boilers.

Duluth is now 4-4 in league play and 9-10 overall. Port Wing drops to 1-5 in league play.
