The Carlton Bulldogs won their 10th straight game as they opened the Section 7A playoffs with a 12-2 win over Northland-Remer on Tuesday night. Also winning in Subsection 2 was Nashwauk-Keewatin, Littlefork-Big Falls, and
Floodwood. Over in Subsection 1, the winners were Lakeview Christian Academy, Cherry, Mesabi East and Silver Bay.

Mia Saunders left little doubt for Carlton fans in their win over Northland-Remer. The senior right hander fired a no-hitter and she pounded out a pair of hits and had 3 RBIs in helping lead the Bulldogs to the win. Melissa Clark, Brooke Champs, Christy Eggert and Megan Nelson all had 2 hits and Holly Nelson blasted a 3-run double. The Bulldogs scored 9 runs in the bottom of the third inning to take control of the game.

A mild upset in the tournament occurred when Lakeview Christian Academy rode the strong right arm of pitcher Anna Broman to a 7-5 win over AlBrook. Broman fired a 5-hitter and fanned 13 Falcons on the way to the win.

In another game involving a local team, it was Floodwood notching a 5-3 win over Cook County as Molly Johnson pitched the Polar Bears to the win.

The Section 7A tourney will now move to Cohasset as it begins a double-elimination type format. Carlton will take on Littlefork-Big Falls, Lakeview Christian plays Cherry, and Floodwood will take on Nashwauk-Keewatin.
