BARNUM – Wins haven’t exactly come in bunches for the Barnum Boys Baseball Team this year. After starting the season 0-6, the Bombers have shown steady improvement. On Tuesday Barnum proved just how dangerous of a team they can be when hitting on all cylinders by beating rival Moose Lake-Willow River by a score of 7-3.

All but one of Barnum’s runs came off of home runs with three different Bombers going yard in the home win. Jordan Morse broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo blast. ML-WR climbed back on top in the top of the fifth when Abe Young and Trevor Nummela scored to give the Rebels a 3-2 lead.

Only one half-inning later, Justin Newman put the Bombers back in front by a score of 5-3 with a three run round tripper. In the seventh, Josh Hogan added a long ball of his own, giving the Bombers two insurance runs as they claimed the 7-3 victory in the latest chapter of the rivalry between the two.

Besides helping his own cause with the three run homer, Newman claimed the win on the mound by only allowing three hits while striking out 13 Rebel batters and issuing four walks.
