It has been a tough year for the Esko softball team. The Eskomos have found wins hard to come by and on Tuesday night they lost a heartbreaker to Two Harbors when the Agates rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the last inning to be Esko 3-2 in the opening round of the Section 7AA softball tournament.

Esko scrapped to the lead entering the final inning and appeared on the verge of a major upset before the Agates awoke from their slumber and managed to snatch the victory away from the Eskomos. Two Harbors was able to get the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh and after a grounder that scored a run they got back-to-back doubles from Sasha Fjeran and Madison Olson to pull out the win.

Olson also pitched her team to the win by allowing only three hits and fanning 15 for the 13-5 Agates.

Katyanna Emanuel had a double for the Eskomos.

The Agates will now play in the second round in Cloquet on Thursday against Eveleth-Gilbert a team that is 14-6 on the season.
