Local Athletes Named To LSC All-Conference Track Team

The Lake Superior Conference announced their All-Conference selections last week and a host of area athletes were named multiple times in different events to the team.

Halee Peterson of Cloquet made the team in the 800 and 1,600 meter runs as well as being a member of the 4×400 relay team along with teammates Amy Campbell, Emily Wangen and Emily Rikkola.

On the girls side Hermantown was well represented with Nikki Roach being named in the 3,200 and Rachael Hoium in the 100 meter and 300 meter Hurdles as well as the triple jump and long jump. The 4×100 relay team of Jessica Wasbotten, Megan Donovan, Melissa Madison and Jess Harper were also named All-Conference as was the 4×800 relay team that included Madison, Niila Witikko, Jenna Wassenaar and Kelsey Lagergren. Witikko was also named All-Conference in the 800 meter run behind Peterson of Cloquet. Madison also clinched a spot on the team in the long jump.

Hermantown was not shut out of the weight events either as Jess Schlichting and Jacey Carlson made the team in the shot put and Ashley Michelson and Carmen Bergstedt were named All-Conference in the discus.

On the boys side Jared Anderson of Cloquet made the team in 400 meter dash as well as the high jump. Corey Anderson of Hermantown also was named in the high jump and the triple jump. Jake Lesar was named All-Conference in the shot put and his teammate Jeremy Peterson also made the team in discus. The Hermantown 4×200 relay team also was named All-Conference.
