Esko Out-hits Eveleth-Gilbert But Falls 11-7

There is an old saying in baseball that walks will haunt you and that was certainly the case for the Esko baseball team on Wednesday afternoon. Despite out hitting Eveleth-Gilbert 9-4 the Eskomos gave up 13 walks and ended up losing the game 11-7.

Both teams put three runs on the board in the second and a single tally in the third inning, but E-G added another couple of runs in the fourth and the Eskomos managed just a single run. The game-changing inning occurred in the sixth when the Golden Bears managed to tack on four runs to just a pair for Esko as E-G built the lead to 10-7. E-G added a single run in the top of the seventh inning for the final of 11-7.

Grant Johnson, Josh Green and Austin Cossalter all had two hits for Esko while the Golden Bears were led by William Olson who had three of their six hits in the game.
