It took a late-game rally, but in the end the Barnum Bombers overcame a determined Cromwell Cards softball team 10-9 in Barnum.

The Cards got off to a quick start and managed to build a middle-inning lead that lasted until the final inning. Trailing entering the bottom of the seventh, the Bombers rallied to the win on a walk and an error that eventually cost the Cards dearly.

We had some costly errors and couldn’t hit the pitcher like in past games. Not the best way to start the week but we got the “W” and have a lot to look forward to, I’ve got faith in the girls.” Barnum Head Coach Sarah Yrjanson commented.

Both teams pitchers struggled to find the plate on the windy and cold evening and both teams had moments where they pounded the ball at the plate. Leading Barnum at the plate were; Kierra Rowell who had three hits including a double and she scored three runs, Jenna Shanda who double and added a pair of hits and Emily Thomsen who went 2-for-4.

Leading Cromwell were; Lisa Peterson and Han Shelton. Peterson had a double and triple and scored two runs, while Shelton had two doubles, scored twice and added two RBIs. “Cromwell did a remarkable job at the plate. I was very impressed with their hits.” Yrjanson added.
