McCarthey’s Grand Slam Leads Proctor Over Esko

PROCTOR — Proctor batters knocked out 18 hits, including two triples by Cody Dolsen and a grand slam by Ryan McCarthy as Proctor defeated Esko 26-4 in a non-conference baseball game at Proctor. The game was called after the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule. Each of Proctor’s starting nine had at least one hit.

Dolsen paced Proctor with three hits. McCarthy, Tyler Pionk, Jimmy Merling, Jesse Scanlon, and Justin Scanlon had two hits apiece. McCarthy had seven RBIs, and Ian Scherber had three RBIs.


Pionk hit two doubles and now has 16 in his prep career, breaking the previous Proctor High School
record of 15 set by his now coach Kyle Wojtysiak from 2002-05.

Winning pitcher Nick Nylund (1-0, 7.00 ERA) worked three innings. He allowed three earned runs on four hits, four walks, and a hit batsman. He had four strikeouts. Jack Nikko pitched two innings of scoreless relief for the Rails.

Max Reinertsen had two hits for Esko.

Proctor is now 7-0 on the season while Esko falls to 1-5 on the year.
