Northland Sports Volleyball Recap 10-14-15

There were a handful of volleyball match ups on Tuesday night, with 6 coming in the northland.

The Barnum Bombers and Silver Bay Mariners went into 5 matches, with the Bombers squeaking it out. The Bombers won the 1st set, 28-26 but fell in the next two sets, 17-25 and 15-25 before rallying back to win the 4th and 5th matches 25-20 and 15-11. Hannah Tate led the Bombers with 11 kills in the victory.

In the big Polar League matchup, the Carlton Bulldogs swept the South Ridge Panthers in 3 straight matches, winning 25-19, 25-22, and 25-21. Macy Belich tallied 14 kills in the win, while teammates Amanda Groth and Lindsay Ermatinger recorded 13 and 6 respectively. Mallory Thibault had 13 kills in the loss for the Panthers.

The Cloquet Lumberjacks dominated the Proctor Rails in three straight sets, winning 25-10, 25-19, and 25-17. Kassidy Steen had a nice night, racking up 17 kills in the win. Jessica Stone had 17 set assists as well as 11 digs in the victory. Abby Rohweder had 7 kills in the loss for the Rails.

The Wrenshall Wrens fell to Cook County in 4 matches. The Wrens lost the first match 18-25, won the second match 28-26, and lost the last two 23-25 and 16-25. Mededith Sutton had 20 kills in the win while Linden Sutton had 15. Tatum Swanson had 8 kills in the loss.

Duluth East won the battle of Duluth beating the Duluth Denfeld Hunters in 3 matches, winning 25-21, 25-21, and 25-15. Daisy Hoops had 5 kills in the win for the Greyhounds, while teammate Alayna Baker recorded 14 set assists.

Duluth Marshall throttled Northeast Range in 3 straight, winning 25-12, 25-12, and 25-10. Ashlyn Cummins had 15 kills and 13 digs in the win
