Thunder End Season With A 14-14 Record

The Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Womens Softball team concluded their season with a double header sweep of Mesabi in Virginia by scores of 3 – 2, and 11 – 7.

In the first contest, Katie Youngberg (Moose Lake) pitched the whole 7 innings for the win allowing only 3 hits, 4 walks while striking out 12 batters. Katie helped her effort on the ‘mound’ by going 2 for 3 at the plate, driving in 1 run. Anna Engelmeier (Hermantown) drove in pinch runner Kalee Harp (Cromwell) with a sacrifice fly in the top of the 7th inning for the winning margin.

In the second game, Kassi Neary (Hill City) got the win with relief from Katie Youngberg in the last few innings. Kassi allowed 5 hits and 4 runs with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks. Youngberg finished the game with 5 strikeouts, giving her 17 for the days’ doubleheader. Casey Pierce (McGregor) led the offensive attack going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 3 runs scored and 2 RBI’s. Lisa Muehlberger (Duluth Central) was 2 for 4 with 1 run scored and 3 RBI’s. Anna Engelmeier was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored. Kassi Neary also provided some offense at the plate to back up her pitching going 2 for 4 with 1 double and had 3 RBI’s as well.

The Fond du Lac Thunder end their cold, rainy, snowy and often postponed season at 14 and 14, the second best record in team history.
