Thun’s Homer Lifts Hermantown Over East

Katie Thun must have looked a bit like Super Woman to the Duluth East Greyhounds on Monday afternoon. The lanky pitcher from Hermantown pitched and hit her team to a 7-4 win over the Greyhounds in a non-conference home win in high school softball.

In the fifth inning Thun belted a two-run homer as she aided her own cause on the mound. For the game Thun finished with a four-hitter, while striking out six in picking up the win.

Macy Francisco and Celine Francisco both helped out the Hawks with three hits apiece. Macie Dorow led the Greyhounds with a triple and two runs scored.

Hermantown has opened the season with four straight victories.
