Thun Strikes Out 13 In Hawks Win Over Esko

Hermantown may have lost a ton of star softball players to graduation over the past couple of years, but it appears as if the Hawks are reloaded, retooled and ready to make another run in sectional play. On Friday the Hawks dispatched Esko by a 7-0 score as pitcher Katie Thun handcuffed the young Esko line-up.

Thun, who saw some time on the mound last season behind Megan Mullen, allowed just a pair of hits to the Eskomos, while fanning 13 in a solid effort. The lanky Thun also aided her own cause by bashing out a pair of hits including a double. Celine Francisco also doubled for the Hawks, who improved to 3-0 on the season.

Abby Saralampi took the loss for the Eskomos while allowing eight hits and four walks.

The Eskomos fell to 1-4 on the season.
