WILLOW RIVER- On Monday the Barnum Bombers suffered their first loss of the season to the AlBrook Falcons by a score of 5-4. On Tuesday the Bombers rebounded with a 7-5 Polar League win over the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels in Willow River.

Barnum jumped on the scoreboard first, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning, when with the bases loaded Emily Thomsen hit a bases clearing double to give Barnum a lead they would never relinquish.

The Rebels scored one run in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 3-1, but Barnum would continue to answer as the Bombers scored single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to build up a 7-3 lead entering the bottom of the seventh.

The Rebels fought back scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and had the bases loaded, but were unable to get the hit that could have possibly tied the game or won it for the Rebels. The Rebels were coming off a 16-4 win Monday over East Central.

The Rebels, with the loss fall to 3-2 on the season and they will be in action again on Tuesday when they face the Carlton Bulldogs at Chub Lake Park in Carlton. The Bombers improve to 3-1 on the season and will face the Bulldogs of Carlton this Thursday at home in Barnum.
